Child Safety Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
ChatIt has a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and any form of harm to minors. This policy explains the standards we uphold, how we respond to violations, and how anyone — user or non-user — can report a concern.
1. Our zero-tolerance position
The following are strictly prohibited on ChatIt and will result in immediate, permanent termination of the offending account and, where applicable, reporting to law enforcement and NCMEC:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — any image, video, or written content that sexualizes a minor.
- Grooming — any communication intended to manipulate, exploit, or solicit a minor for sexual purposes.
- Sextortion of minors.
- Trafficking, sale, or recruitment of children for any exploitative purpose.
- Sharing, requesting, or promoting links to CSAM or content that endangers minors.
- Any other content or conduct that endangers, exploits, or sexualizes a minor.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 17 years old to use ChatIt. Accounts found to belong to users under this age will be deactivated. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child is using ChatIt, contact us at support@chat-it.net and we will deactivate the account.
3. How to report a violation
You can report any violation of this policy by:
- In-app: open the offender's profile and tap "Report user." Describe what happened.
- Email: support@chat-it.net with the subject line "URGENT - Child Safety." Include the username, room name (if applicable), date and time, and any screenshots or evidence you can provide. Do not include images of the abusive content itself — just describe it.
We treat every CSAE report as the highest priority and review it within 24 hours, often faster. Your report is confidential.
4. How we respond
When we receive a credible CSAE report, we:
- Investigate immediately, prioritizing actions that protect any minor at risk.
- Where the violation is confirmed, deactivate the offending account and preserve relevant non-encrypted records as required by law.
- Report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the relevant law enforcement authority, including in the country where the offender appears to be located.
- Cooperate with law enforcement requests under applicable law.
- Where users have been targeted or harmed, offer guidance and resources.
Because most chats on ChatIt are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot scan the content of private messages. We rely heavily on user reports, account-level signals, metadata-level abuse detection, and tools that operate on the user's device or on unencrypted public content.
5. What we do proactively
- We maintain reporting tools inside the app and on this website.
- We disable accounts associated with credible reports of CSAE.
- We cooperate with NCMEC, INHOPE, and law enforcement.
- We train our support team to recognize and triage child safety reports.
- We continually review and improve our safety practices.
6. Resources for users in distress
If you or a child you know has experienced abuse, the following organizations can help:
- NCMEC CyberTipline (USA, international): report.cybertip.org
- INHOPE (international hotline network): inhope.org
- Internet Watch Foundation (UK/global): iwf.org.uk
- Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (USA): 1-800-422-4453
